Brenda Meherg Smedley

Brenda Meherg Smedley age 72 of Burnsville, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Baptist Hospital South in Montgomery, Alabama. 

Brenda was born on December 24, 1951 to the late Theodore Meherg and the late Joyce Kennedy Meherg.

She was a homemaker and worked in the construction industry for many years. She loved the beauty of flowers and trees and could tell you the names of almost all of them. Most of all, she loved her family and friends. Brenda will be remembered as a warm and kind person. She never failed to greet people with a smile and she made sure she left them with one too. Brenda will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

She is survived by her husband, David Smedley; children, Leslie (Jeff) Paschal, Rene Bingham, Mark (Maria) Pettijohn; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene Meherg, Tammy Messer (Greg Hill), Michelle Hazelip, Melinda Long, Melody Marrow; numerous brothers-in-law; numerous sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of beloved friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Meherg and Joyce Kennedy; son, Shan Pettijohn; sisters, Pat Cumbie, Betty Davis; brothers, Wayne Meherg, Keith Meherg and brothers-in-law, Dale Cumbie, Jud Messer and Charles "Chuck" Smedley.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. from the Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mitchell Carroll officiating.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
